With nearly 1,000 residents, The Tropics has numerous clubs and activities for almost any interest. Information about these activities is found in The Breeze, the lively park magazine, or in the Tropics Wind, the amazing unofficial park web site maintained by the Computer Club.
Amenities include a 19,000 square foot clubhouse/recreation building,
pool, spa, sauna, ceramics room, library, card room, billiards, greenbelts,
car wash, RV parking, etc.
We at Millennium support our residents’ activities in any way we can, whether by buying a new kiln for the ceramics club, completing the necessary improvements to the clubhouse to permit large-scale bingo, or devoting a portion of the park income to the Tropics Resident Club for its own functions.
A fun recent tradition is the party thrown by the Residents’ Club to celebrate “Tropics New Year,” the anniversary of our purchase. The Union City Fire Department does the cooking, we contribute the prizes and everyone has a good time.
In August, 2000 it was our privilege to acquire The Tropics through an
innovative arrangement with Union City. The Union City Redevelopment Agency
made a grant of $2,500,000 and allowed us to sell low interest tax-exempt
bonds. In return, we brought the Millennium program to the Tropics, as
follows:
Millennium and park management meet regularly with the Residents’
Club Board to determine park policies, set budget priorities and capital
improvement needs. We are proud that many homeowners have told us of the peace of mind they feel ever since we bought the park.
