The Sahara is a charming 254-space Community for persons over 55 years of age. Sahara is a well-located community just off Highway 111 in Palm Springs.

Sahara residents are a fun and active group. Sahara has a pool, spa, recreation center, competitive shuffleboard court and views of neighboring hills.

We purchased Sahara in June 2002 with the assistance of the Palm Springs Redevelopment Agency. Palm Springs issued tax-exempt bonds to finance the purchase and made a $400,000 grant to help with our planned park upgrades. This enabled us to bring the Millennium program to Sahara as follows:

• Sahara will remain an over-55 community.
  
  
• We will follow Palm Springs’ rent control ordinance, even if rent control is repealed by a later City Council or Court. This is rent control that can’t be taken away!
  
  
• Millennium and park management meet regularly with the Homeowners’ Association Board to determine park policies, set budget priorities and capital improvement needs.
  
  
• Funds are set aside each year for long-term capital replacements, so that the park can be well maintained without passing the costs to the homeowners. We expect to spend more than $1,000,000 over the next ten years on park improvements.
  
  
• All funds remaining after paying the bills and Millennium’s asset management fee remain in the park for additional improvements and other items suggested in consultation with the Homeowners’ Association.
  
  
• Our management staff is trained to be problem solvers, with support from Millennium to address our homeowner’s needs.

Sahara residents have great pride in their community and have become vigorous partners in our efforts to make Sahara a warm, friendly, well-maintained and affordable Community for Older Persons.
